What we keep, and for how long.
One category of data on this site is unusually personal: what event you are going to and when. It gets its own section, and its own promise.
Who is responsible for my data?

What do you collect, and why?
- Name, email, telephone, delivery address, country, order contents. Basis: performance of the contract. Kept for the period of the statutory guarantee plus applicable tax retention, then deleted.
- Name, email, optional telephone, country, subject and message. Basis: our legitimate interest in answering you. Kept 24 months from the last exchange.
- The above plus target colour, swatch photograph, event date, needed-by date and head measurement. Basis: pre-contractual steps at your request. Kept 12 months after the request closes.
- Occasion type, time of day, venue and the dress code you typed. Basis: your consent, given by using the advisor. Kept no longer than 12 months.
- A parent or guardian's email address where the buyer is between 13 and 17. Basis: legal obligation. Kept for the life of the order record only.
- Email address, only if you tick the separate marketing box. Basis: consent, withdrawable at any time from any email we send.
- Aggregate page counts, only if you accept measurement cookies. Basis: consent. No profiling and no cross-site tracking.
What happens to the fact that I am going to a wedding on a particular date?
The event promise
What you tell the advisor — the occasion, the hour, the venue and the wording on your invitation — is information about your private life, and we treat it that way. It is used to choose which pieces to show you, and for nothing else.
It is retained for no more than twelve months. It is never used to time a message to your event: we do not send “your wedding is coming up” emails, we do not build a calendar of your occasions, and we do not pass your date to anyone.
If you would rather it were not kept at all, use the advisor and then write to us; we will erase the session record on request without asking why.
Do you ever sell or share my data?
Never sold. Shared only with the parties needed to complete what you asked for: the carrier that delivers your parcel, the provider that sends transactional email, the payment provider that processes your payment, and our accountants and auditors where the law requires it. Each acts under a written processing agreement.
Where a provider is outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is covered by an adequacy decision or by standard contractual clauses. You may ask us for a copy of the safeguards that apply.
What about the swatch photograph I send?
It is user-supplied content. It is used only to quote and carry out your colour-matching request, is stored in the request record, and is deleted within twelve months of that request closing. It is never published, never used in marketing, and never shown to another customer.
What rights do I have?
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection — including objection to any processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing rests on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting what was lawful before.
Write to support@oliverhats.live. We answer within one month. We do not require a specific form, and we do not charge.
Where do I complain?
To us first, if you are willing. Beyond that, to the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), which supervises data protection in Spain. Your right to complain to it does not depend on raising the matter with us first.
Is the site used by children?
It is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly process their data. Between 13 and 17, an order requires a parent or guardian’s consent, collected at checkout and verified by email before dispatch. If you believe a child’s data has reached us, write and we will erase it.
What about cookies?
They have a page of their own, with a control you can reopen at any time from the footer: Cookies.
